Seedlings
We start with feminized seedlings. Seedlings are grown and nurtured in a greenhouse prior to the hardening and acclimating period where they are exposed to natural elements such as sunshine, wind and varying temperatures during the day and then covered at night. We carefully monitor them until planting day, and also after planting to ensure that they become will established in the field.
Field Prep & Planting
Prior to planting, the fields are disked and power tilled. We then construct raised beds, lay the plastic mulch and irrigation drip line. Plastic mulch assists in weed control and keeps soil moist and warm. Seedlings are planted in mid-June with hopes that the last frost has come and gone. Our plants are planted with 5 foot spacing within the rows and rows are spaced 10 feet apart. This assures that the plants will not crowd and shade each other and will have maximum utilization of the sunshine.
No Chemicals
We do not use insecticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers to control weeds and insects. Weeds that do grow will be pulled by hand. Our plants are well cared for and well fed with all organic fertilizers and nutrients to insure maximum production and quality.
Harvest & Testing
When the plants are about 10-12 weeks old, it is time to monitor individual plants as they progress at different levels and harvesting time will vary depending on plant readiness. Our goal is to produce a plant with CBD at about 10% or higher and THC below 0.3%.
